Bob Barnett
Robert Barnett (Playwright) - Bob’s theatrical career has taken him from accolade to accolade, from coast to coast. Recent productions include the one-day festival LA ’92 - Three Plays/Three Voices, Session, Solo, Morning Tea, all in L.A. He was also a participant in ASK’s 2000 Playwright-Composer Studio. His double bill Symphony Pastorale/Fugue has been produced in Philadelphia, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. This piece as well as the one act mime play Home Movies received Dramalogue Awards. The Hiroshima Daughter was workshopped at the Sundance Playwrights Lab. Rural Routes was commissioned by New Jersey Stageworks Touring Company and the script and oral histories are now in the Smithsonian’s permanent collection. Bob is Danceteller’s Playwright in Residence, collaborating on works that have performed all over the country, as well as Russia and Lithuania. His radio drama, The Story of Crazy Nora, was broadcast over NPR’s Radio Theatre. Bob holds an MFA from Yale School of Drama and is a recipient of both a Pennsylvania Arts Council Fellowship and an arts residency at Yaddo. He received his BA (Honors) in English form Santa Clara University. He is a Founding Artistic Director of Yale Cabaret Blue Theatre Company. He also helped found the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights.
